Gardeners diary May

May is the busiest month of the year for gardeners: keep newly planted stuff well watered, especially during the first hot days. Most bamboos are now shooting; give extra water during dry weather. Don’t forget to weed! Thin bamboo shoots out by removing thin and crooked ones. This month, frost can cause exceptional damage, always be prepared. No more transplantation of plants; warm weather can be expected now. After mid-may the bananas, gingers and cannas can be planted.

Jungle Garden

Our garden, established in 1990, has never stopped growing and has now evolved into an experimental jungle garden. Here many plants feel at home; ferns, palms, camellias to name but a few. If you can manage it you're more than welcome to visit us in Steenwijkerwold and take in our exotic plants for yourself. Bit too far away? Then we hope you'll enjoy our photos!
